They are still a little small but you can see the pearling on them in person. I plan on growing out this whole group

I am surprised most of the fry look the same not much diversity some have more pearling than others thats about it

Ooooooh, pictures of the Thai x BB! :D

Could be that the BB is an aquarium strain one and is therefore quite inbred, which means that the offsprings prolly have a lot of the same BB alleles, which makes them look very similar (because they do share heaps of similarity genetics-wise). FH would vary quite a bit, which is prolly the small bits of variations that one may notice in this case. Possibly.

Any fry from any strain of BBs would look very similar to one another...no matter the genetic diversity, or lack thereof. All pure species by definition are uniform in type. To put it simply, having one pure species parent means they will have 50% unscrambled genetics, hence the more uniform appearance. The slight differences were introduced by the mother, her genetic background is mixed species & therefore not set/stable.

If the mother had been a mix consisting of more paraneetroplus blood you would have seen even more uniformity in type...

I agree. Its just like breeding a flowerhorn to a red devil or midas the red devil or midas's genetics will dominate everything else. The bb was bred by a friend of mine parents used to be mine and I try to get fish from different locations and different times to help prevent in breeding. I have had her since she was 2in shes now about 7-8" The male I got from a lfs not much history on him just know he was raised in a 150 b4 I got him he is the same size
