new house, new fishroom, 4,000 gallon tank, 1,000 gallon tank, many others and ponds,

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
it is hard to reach different part of the glass because the ceiling height is 8 feet, the tank is 6-1/2 feet, so you cant go up and down, and besides, i just say josh its time to clean the glass on the tanks and "magically" it gets done :) so its easy for me to do it this way, but thanks for the idea :)

Thanks. Having read this http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?515623-Cleaning-Acrylic&highlight=acrylic I wanted to ask how do you make sure you don't scratch the inside (and the outside for that matter)?

When the kids move out and you end up not wanting to snorkel to clean your viewing panels, this site has magnetic algae scrapers for tanks up to 3.5" thick and it looks like you can custom order if your acrylic is thicker: http://mightymagnets.com/floating and flat floating.html
hello, i have one for my 1000 gallon tank and in theory it should work, but all acrylic tanks bow and therefor do not have a "flat" surface, so the magnet only touches on the ends or sides, when your working with a 10' long tank and 40" tall and the magnets your working with are so hard to move around the tank, you would want all 10" of the magnet to touch the glass, so you can do 4-5 10" passes, well with the bowing all you get is the top and bottom of the magnet touching, ive tried and tried to make it work, but i gave up when a very small piece of dirt was caught between the magnet and the acrylic and i scratched about 4' of my tank before i realized i was scratching it, that really was the end of me using magnets in my big tanks,
but thanks for trying :)

Yeah, I hear you. I'm working with 10' length and 4' of height, so I know what you mean. I've scratched my tank too being careless with a magnetic algae scraper, but now I'm much more careful.

I think once it becomes a matter of you having to jump in the tank yourself to clean it, you will change your tune...I guess time will tell. ;)

Just looked at all the pictures while at work, this is so cool. I personaly am happy with my 55 and 90 gallon but more power to you for this! :)
