Over the past week I have lost 2 of the 3 fish in my 55 gallon tank. I lost both my Tire Track Eel and a common pleco to some kind of fungal infection last week. For both it had gone untreated because they both happened to get it the one week I let my guard down, exam week. I now only have my Electric Blue Jack Dempsey left, who shows no signs of having the infection, and I don't know what to do with him. I have a fungal treatment kit but do not know if I should give it to him because I know he can be sensitive to the medication. What do you guys think?

pH: 6.4 (I also need help with this, I can't seem to get this back up)
ammonia: 0.15
temperature: 78

50% water change, add malachite green, turn temp up to 82 degrees. If the tank is un-planted, a little aquarium salt would also help.

Also may want to put some Prime in to bind up that ammonia.

Doing a 50% WC will practically drop that to zero. Doing a 50% WC once or 25% twice a week will practically keep ammonia at 0%

By the way Jacob, if you really want to up your pH, put two teaspoons of baking soda powder in that tank, stir it and test... should raise your pH to about 7.0-7.2

I've been doing about 10% water changes daily vacuuming gravel every time. Haven't seen a change in my ammonia yet though.

I tried this and tested 24 hours after doing so and saw very little change. I read somewhere on the internet though that Baking soda is a temporary fix. Do you know of any solutions with a longer effect?

Some crushed coral in your filter will keep the PH up. I would do daly 25% water changes while your at it anyway only takes a few more minutes. Bump the temp up a little 80 degrees is good. I would take some water to a LFS to have it tested if you test results don't seem right. The Ammonia should be at zero if you have a fully cycled tank. What are your nitrites and nitrate levels at?

Alright thanks for the advise! I'll give this a shot as soon as I get home.
