size of ropefish

Now from seeing everyone else's opinion could i fit a rope fish in my 75 with my weeksi, delhezi, senegalus, SB senegalus, ornate, moke, buettikoferi, and palmas palmas? (going to upgrade to 125 or 180) None of they are over 8" the weeksi is 8 the ornate is 7.5 and the del is 7.5 everything else is 6.5 or under

You could fit it in there but I wouldn't mix a ropefish with an ornate. Of course your ornate is small atm but when it reaches 14-16" the ropefish will be spaghetti for it. Also never keep single ropefish.

I'm not even sure i'm gonna get one. I'm only gonna get one if i put some kind of decor like drift wood or something in there. I think they just don't fit a bare tank. Although i could be wrong but idk i've never really thought about it until now.......

Yep ropefish need decorations more than bichirs do, they do not do well in bare tanks. Ropefish are at their best when kept in groups in densely planted and decorated tanks.

I don't really get why people say that ropes should be kept in groups, mines perfectly healthy and appears to be happy and is the only rope in the tank, there are other polys mind you but I just dont get why people say there should be more than one, can someone explain?

Ropefish live in groups in the wild and feel a lot more secure when surrounded by other ropefish
