The setup looks just fine. Shoot your Redheads would be fine in there for life but bigger tanks are always better.
Questions on my Geos

I think they will be fine until you move. I have 5 baby tapajos and 6 baby uarus in my 55 temporarily. With the guidence of others on MFK I should upgrade in a year. I think everything youre doing is great they look very happy and social. Mine are about the same size/age as yours. don't you love how inquisitive they are of us? They always rush up to the glass when I sit next to the tank. I stick my face up to it the tapajos come right up and just look at me. I then duck my head and they come right up to the glass and try to find me. When I sit back up they move back then come up to me again. It's like hide and seek. lol Love their personality!
You're tank looks great! Love the aquascape! Now I'm kicking myself for not doing sand.

they are way more social with me than I expected. and they have established a heirarchy in the tank. its kind of fun to watch. like a funny sitcom. they have become a hard favorite for me. never had a fish I like more. I am super stoked to hear that this setup is gonna make them happy.
Let's see back to your questions. You asked who needs to stay or go that's currently in the tank? I think you can leave it as is for now however with the Geos getting 5-7 inches full grown they may eat who then can catch? Tetras and platys? I don't see any of the stock you have currently with the Geos posing a problem. I'm not sure what water parameters the others needs compared to Geos.
As for filteration. I currently have in my 55gal a HOB Marineland 350 setting up a sponge soon for power outage backup. When I upgrade to 100-125g i will have HOB filter or two and Canister. I was given the advice of 2 heaters in my upgrade as opposed to one in case of falilure at some point (2-200 watts was recommended to me in a 125gal).
Im not one to keep live plants as I have Uarus and they will eat them. Everything else to me sounds like your personal preference.
not too worried about predation. honestly if they thin the herd thats fine with me. Mainly I do not want fin nippers in the tank as I am hoping my geos will develop great fins and streamers. the cherry barbs seem like they are fairly aggressive fin nippers so they may need to go. the only other ones I worry about are the black skirt tetras but they have shown no affinity for chasing or nipping yet. so they may be fine. I guess I have another week and a half to decide who can stay and who must go. as far as the heaters go, I am currently running two as well. I have an aqueon 300watt heater and an old school green ebo-jager 300 watt (best heaters ever!) so hopefully I will be good. I have the ebo-jager set to 78 degrees F, and the aqueon set to 76 degrees F. if I see the light on in the aqeuon I will know I got problems. I also set up a digital thermometer today because the strip you stick to the tank had me thinking the heaters weren't working (showed 72 degrees F). I'd rather measure everything accurately anyways. Oh dear, I'm rambling... sorry about that. Thanks alot for your input. it appears no one else would like to weigh in.
I too have 5 cherry barbs I bought to make sure my water was 'safe' before i purchased my uarus. In the past they have been fin nippers for me. This bunch hasn't showed any interest in nipping fins YET! I think the Geos will be fine with teh Cherry barbs. 2 reasons: 1. Barbs tend to stay in the middle/top part of the tank Geos seems to stay lower middle/bottom (in my tank anyway). 2. Geos are fast little suckers. I have had Blackskirt Tetras in the past, never had a nipping problem from them. But keep an eye out. Eject the 'play ground bullies' as you see fit lol.
My water temp is 80ish because of my uarus. A little warm for the geos but they don't seem to mind
I too have a stick on thermometer. I don't like it. I may go with the little glass kind that sinks or look into the digital you mentioned; something else. Having uarus makes me crazy trying to keep everything perfect. But they are worth it 
I have a thread started about what to keep in my 55 gal and what I can keep in my 100-125 gal upgrade. Not much feed back but i bump it every couple of days.
