So today I received my first pay check in 2013 and noticed a nice increase in my social security tax, to the tune of about $80 for 2 weeks of pay. That means an extra $160 a month. Gone. For no reason whatsoever, to money that I shouldn't have to pay in the first place and that I will never see again.

Our wonderful leaders allowed the payroll tax cut to expire, which caused an increase in the Social Security tax by 2%. That means this year my net income will be reduced by almost $2k. Lovely. Thank you Sir, may I have another?

Anybody else get paid yet?

Mine will be about $40 every 2 weeks but with health care going up ill be losing about $120 a month. Its gonna hurt as I'm the only income for my family. Starting to make me wanna look for a better paying job

You guys have no clue as to the taxes being currently paid in the EU.....should not complain.

IBTL...

haven't been paid yet, but I don't mind paying ss... both my parents get it, so it's like I'm paying them back for all they did for me...

Apples to watermelons. I'm not really concerned with what's happening in another country/society with regards to their payroll taxes :)

Apparently not too concerned with what happens to other people on SS either.:)

Oh come on don't like SS isn't a broken system in the US. My generation is beyond screwed on this. It's just a way for the government to line their pockets and support their massive spending budgets. The SS tax is not our money anymore and it never will be. It's a trust fund we're paying into, in the name of the US Government.
