What is this on my live?

Brittles stars help clean the leftover food/detritus after the lights go off. If you want to get it out place come raw shrimp in the tank in and open area and turn the lights off. Net it when it comes out in the open. And make sure there aren't any green ones, those ones have been known to eat small fish.

Yeah that's the downside to hitchhikers. You don't always get something beneficial. I have gotten those too, but not off of live rock. I got them from zoa colonies from a trusted LFS. Lesson: Always dip corals
