Rage quitting monsters...Should I do it?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think you need to choose between monsters or the little guys . Don't get me wrong I love the GG and aro but they look out of place. Just my opinion but I would have kept the monsters.

Hey guys how would you secure low profile plants in thin substrate fronting the tank? I am thinking of a metal screen, burying it under the substrate and tying the roots onto the screen. What have you done with yours? I am asking this for the dwarf Amazon sword -like plants that I want to put in the front. They are like only 8" tall.

Eggcrate. right idea.. but I would def use plastic not metal if at all possible.. or you can find plastic vermin netting at most hardware stores, not sure if it's fish safe though. eggcrate's used for dividers, sump implications ect ect.. so I trust it. I would also use fish line, or unbleached/dyed cotton thread to secure the plants. also depending on the type of foreplant you go with I've actually had good results useing filter floss as a rooting medium. put a few inches above and below it, once the plants root into it it makes a nice solid mat.

and if you're delving into the relm of planted tanks.. even low req ones.. invest in 10ks even if you don't upgrade/adjust your lighting. just doing that will make a huge difference in over-all plant growth ect ime.

and add some bottomfeeders ect to help keep your bed aerated. i like MTS but they are potentially harmful to your filtration. I let them get established then add some snail eaters ( clown loaches being one of the most notable species) and they balance eachother out.

Yes! I have seen them in the LFS 3 days ago and was supposed to buy a large shoal in the 50's. Then I found they cost 4 dollars each so I said I'll wait for my shoal after my vacation to prevent casualty, 6 clown loaches, 4 more blue botias and about 6 rams included.Any more schooling fish suggestions?

With a good diet they can get around 5" and a large school would be awesome! Plus they have amazing colors.
