whoops! and a sexing question

A male only comm works, given space. Find some assured males, Midas, jags and Butii and try it.

sorry for all the questions, just thought I would ask....at what size would you expect a nuchal hump to develop? and also regarding the sexing....I was a bit daft really, as all I had to do was compare it to my male convict...and their papilla/tubes look almost identical in shape and pointiness (I assume that all males tubes look the same pretty much?)

Male tubes will be pointed and poiting outward. Female tube are rounder and more fan shaped and nuchal hump can be depending in the fathers hump. Regardless of any hump size they will show at 6" normally.

Thanks, although regarding the hump....this guy is easily 7+ inches I would say nearer 8....and no sign of a hump?

Humps are also related to dominance and breeding. Are there competitive males? Any females?

no there is no competition in there at all to be honest...and no females, I have just got a better video of him....I will post it up in a minute, you get a much better idea of size, and his papilla....

very nice, i would keep a close eye on it ,i've had them before that seem very placid and look like they are going to get along with tanks mates and once they have been in the tank a few days there aggression starts to build.

Thanks, and yeah I shall be keeping a very close eye....so far so good, but there again there is nothing that is of any threat to him yet, I`m sure once things start to approach a size where they may be a rival he will turn, to be honest though I doubt it will get to that stage....I will very likely end up taking miguel`s advice and letting most of the other fish go and add a few good sized equally aggressive male fish...
