  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am not sure why Argentea got the most votes in this thread. It's the least colorful, silvery Vieja.

some of my most colorful fish are the least personable....Argentea for me based on personality

What do you mean by personality.

Even though Argentea is least colorful, it has attractive body shape: Big hump and long flowing dorsal fin that other Viejas are lacking. I can compare it to silver angel Vieja.

I think argentaes are beautiful. Color alone indeed does not make a fish. And as silver and black fish go, argentaes are among the most spectacular, imho.

I've got Breidhori & regani as my favorites with argentea being close behind. Its also hard to beat a big zonatus with a lot of blue & a giant hump - they get mean looking!

personality= pet.......super interactive fish much like and Oscar or Midas would be. Always hanging out wherever I am and owner responsive. maybe I just got lucky, but "Oreo" is our water dog....

I love my vieja I have a tank full of them. I didn't see a lot of post about them so I pull up this really old post to see how much it has change since a few years ago. My vieja tank consist of 2 zonotum, 2 synspilum,2 argentea, 1 regani, 1 broheri, 1 fenes, 3 pearsei, and one more hybrid idk yet because to small. Love the zonotum and argentea

I have a young syn and he's gorgeous!! Has no personality though lol. I usually trade fishes with no personality but he's just easy on the eyes!

Planning on keeping a group of them when I can upgrade to a bigger tank.

Vieja (and fish living in the tanks with them) in my collection are: synspillum, breidhori, guttulatus, regani, argentea, black belt, blue fenestratus, piebald fenestratus, hartwegi, bifasciatus, pearsi, bocourti, gibbiceps and vontehillo. Looking to get melanarus and heterospillus, and maybe a zonatum soon... possibly. LOL... can't get enough!
