Well I ook out the powerhead. Even reduced to just 200gph it was so powerful the flow ripped off 2 of the hammer corals tentacles. Their was a whirlpool forming in the center. The fish were desperately fighting the current. And... yea

^^ this was a slight exaggeration. It didnt 'rip' them off. It pierced the tentacles and they deflated.

Oh and just so you realize i wasnt 'that' stupid to do all that i tested the maxijet in a 5gal bucket before putting it in the tank. Tbh it didnt seem that bad...

I just finished reading this thread from start to finished, and I am impressed with the interest and dedication your showing by building this tank. However, I recently started my first nano-reef tank (roughly the same time you did) and I've shown a little more digression and resisted the urge to buy fish on impulse. My stocking is currently:
9-Hermits (blue, red, zebra leg)
3-Peppermint Shrimp
1-Sand-Sifting Star
1-Haitian Purple-Tip Anemone
1-Melanurus Wrasse
..That's it, no offense but I'd say your attitude towards slowly creating this ecosystem died off pretty quick, after reading your posts.
Here's a snapshot of what my tank looks like after running for several weeks.

1+ and might I say that your tank is looking really good, how big is it? Here's a pic of my 6 month old 20 gal nano reef

Its the 29g BioCube, thing is a dream tank although I made a few modifications (replaced bioballs with crushed live rock, which I suggest you do too Biggles.. and will be making one of the filter chambers into a mini-refug). Your tank looks awesome Drummer I love the open top look, also how is the dwarf angels behavior in the 20 I'm looking into a few species..

Thanks! The flame angel is awesome, very active. I'm running my tank with a 10 gal refugium with live rock and chaeto and a 65 gal coralife protein skimmer. So far it's doing awesome.

Sounds good. Will do. I honestly still haven't figured out how to get access to the bioball chamber. I just cant figure out how to get there... its underneath 2 powerheads. So i would have to turn off all that and take it out.... etc

Yea btw in the coming weeks my dad is looking to replace the stock skimmer with a tunze 9002. From what ive read they are top of the line.

i have one in my rsm and its alot better. i also bought the intank media basket and collection cup
