If the tank is completely new without any source of established bacteria, watch out for a spike . . .

agreed!!! unless you started that tank with some already seeded water or substrate or SOMETHING, you may have problems. not a definate but definately a possibility. and for keeping the flowerhorn and devil together, there is a good chance there are going to tear into eachother sometime soon.

you need media or gravel... water dsn't help much...

The water itself holds almost no bacteria in the water column... Incoming ammonia spike in 5... 4... 3... 2...

I like the sand on the bottom, I went gravel with both of mine

two of those fish will pair off and kill the third. tank is only big enough for one devil or fh full grown. you might be able to squeeze the bp with either if they get along and you have good filtration.

3" blood-parrot
2" red devil
How fast do they grow ?

Very nice setup. Keep an eye on your water quality though. Also the blood parrot is gonna grow way slower than the other two, just keep an eye on them as they mature. RD and Flowerhorns are very aggressive typically.
