Let me reframe from this. Is the tank a standard 40gal or a breeder 40gal?

Even so, a 3" Kelberi bass will grow 1"-1.25" a month. At 6-8 months it will hit 10"-12" regardless or less.

JOe you know your bass by now. It can last in that 40g til 6" or so. But it will grow faster in a bigger growout of course. Use what you got and upgrade him tanks accordingly.

Yea, definitely will need a larger tank soon. They grow so fast when they small.
