OXFAM: "100 richest people could end world poverty"

Did I argue that one set of billionaires is better than another?

The level of concentration of wealth in the present is much greater than it has been in the past. And it will only get greater. Banks that are too big to fail...they're only getting bigger.

It affects all of us that fewer and fewer have access to the levers of power. And the few who do have access are largely (and logically) acting in their own self interest.

Matt

To be honest, I don't particularly care about that. The real truth is no matter what kind of society you seek, wealth and power will ALWAYS be concentrated to a few. They may come with different ideologies, but in the end, the real affect is still the same.

Given that, I prefer the system where each individual is properly reworded by his/her efforts and a lifeline(and a lifeline only) is given to those who can not compete.

Honestly, if you see a difference between koch brothers and soros, you are fooling yourself.

+1 if you dont have A LOBBYIST.... you dont have any pull.... votes really dont count for much...

One has to agree with Matt, objectively.

But, again, when or where, has it been otherwise?

Jus Prima Note, among other awesome rights of the few and wealthy in the past, is not so far off..

Well, America was formed WITHOUT a king and with separation of powers expressly because of fears of concentration of power....

Since Scott Turow was on CSPAN yesterday, ironically, talking about how powerful corporations / monied interests have been able to circumvent our (court) appeals process...and not problems with the death penalty.

...here's a good death penalty perspective: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9l06LFFor8

Matt

Tottally agree with you, again. But it is digressing.....( would love a civil discussion on this theme, an adult, not overheated and apolitical discussion on this )

Ironic then, one should push for a large government with vast over reaching powers dreaded by the founding fathers.

times change, maybe horse and buggy days are better than jet travel... ???? too much is made of founding fathers forsight .... if any one of them had suggested EVEN RAIL TRAVEL ... I would be impressed:popcorn:
