I believe that would come down to genetics my friend:) there are different collection points on the rio mag which is why you see different body and colors styles in the hobby now. IMO it keeps everyone happy as not all has the same taste in looks:) however I'm with you and love the head profiles and color!!

Congrats on my old Umbee.. he is a keeper if you have the right size tank to do him justice... his hump will get big again once he settles in! I fed him Hikari gold and blood worms along with Meal worms as a treat. Good Luck Bro!
 
Thanks cichlid8336 you know i wanted this umbee bad, how long dose it usally take for his hump to come out, I have him with a 6.5" female that he chased away

Try dividing the male and female for couple of weeks, that should start doing the trick plus possibly allow the to pair out easier;)

Yep... divide them up.. thats what I had to do. Check your P.H. regarding his hump. Should be 7.2-7.5. I also always added with every water change baking soda and Ocean salt... 3 table spoons of salt and teaspoon of baking soda.. when I had him in my 125. Meal works will jackup up the hump fast or krill... higher protein levels.
