Questions in eartheaters

G brasieliensis find their way down to areas that have cooler periods, but I've never heard of it as a requirement. The others definitely do not need a cool off period. Astatheros are CA cichlids, whereas G. brasiliensis is SA.

Well does it help to mention they are all captive bred?

Probably. I wouldn't bother with a cool down period. The Astatheros wouldn't likely tolerate it, and it's not really necessary for brasiliensis even though they can tolerate it. Gymnos come from subtropic climates and thrive best with a cool down period.

No cool down period needed...although brasiliensis can probably handle it. I keep some growouts of mine with some Gymnogeos and they've been in the 60s all winter and get cold water changes...

Matt

Oh ok well ill still get them cause I love the way they look. Are they like gymnos and need a cool down period?

That is 14 more fish do you even have room? You have a divided 70g you have pbass large Senegal flowerhorn and convicts. Don't you still only have the 20g 35g and 70g? What's the tank stock that these are going in?

My fish life is sparked up with Polys :)

The 75 is not divided.... I have that a 20 a 30 a 10 I will be selling the convicts and possibly the flowerhorn... They will be split up between the 20 and 30 for the time being as the 10 is holding my friends convict pair until he moves... They are all 1.5-2" fish so pretty small
