Want to build Sump and Overflow..

im growing tired of my turtle tank have a penguin 350 filter. keeps water crystal clear but debri flows everywhere when my turtle gets excited. will building one of these help. i really dont know how a sump works and if it gets the poop laying on the bottom of the tank. can anyone please tell me what these two things do?? thanks

Your problem is more a matter of lack of waterflow at the lower level of the tank. Any dead spots will allow debris to collect and when the turtle interferes with those dead spots he will kick up the debris. You could solve this problem with an overflow/sump, or a canister, or a powerhead creating flow near the bottom of the tank. How big is your tank and what kind/size turtle?

Yeah, a simple powerhead would most likely help a lot.
