I am thinking about getting some xenotilapia (Enantiopus) melanogenys Zambia any advice about them I know little about them.

Sand substrate is their normal habitat with wide open areas, they are sensitive to poor water quality and pH swings (pH in the high 8 range is desired). They are gregarious and prefer to live in schools, and should not be kept with other aggressive species.
I was able to keep them with upper water column, non-aggressive cichlids such as the Cyprichromis complex, but they suffered with anything more aggressive.
