There is no such thing as a "super" marbled convict - I found 3 VERY heavily marbled fry in my batch today, and the mother was pink, so you can toss that out the window.

I assume that is what he is "naming" those calicos with more marbling - but I disagree with "naming" something a "super" before it is even genetically determined. (Think ball pythons here.) It's like a LFS coming up with a made up name just to sell something. At this point, regardless of the amount of marbling, they are all calico / marbles, nothing more, nothing less.

Nothing has been proven, or disproved yet.
That's why I started a thread for facts and results of marbled spawnings and het spawnings.

It is genetically proven lol, the calico gene is codom since your so good with ball pythons this shouldnt be hard for you to get. Calicos are codom and when you breed them together depend on how much calico(marbling is the same gene) your variety is some of the offspring will have noticably more black and white pattern. The pics i have are bad and doesnt show the calico pattern but i breed male hrp to my light calico female and i produce half blue calicos and half blue pinks, when they get bigger i will share the pics.

Super marble and marble, trust me there is super forms. If you breed a marble/calico to regular black convict you get half calico.

This is the best pic i could get, these are the results of HRP x Calico. I have 50% blue calicos and 50% blue pinks.

LOL Ernie - thank you for the entertainment. When you have actual, factual, real proof of any of your allegations, then feel free to share it.

Feel free to start your own thread in the HYBRID section, for your own experiment.

From my "normal" marble X pink, I have some fry that you would call "Supers" - but they are not, of course. Otherwise, there would be supers in every LFS by now.

Fwprawn the term super is just a word to hype it up. But in a sense it would be the same as calling it light or heavy marbles. Think about it like this if you wanted to sell something quick. You and me got the same fish but your label yours as regular calicoes, I label mine super calicoes and sell more fish faster then you just cause the term catches interest. It's just like wild caught and f# fish. Would you rather buy a lfs crap fish or buy a wild caught or f# ?

I wouldn't call them super calico convicts, just higher quality. Kinda like a flowerhorn with more pearls and color is considered high quality not "super".

Regardless of the hybrid nature of Ernies fish (perhaps because of their hybrid nature) imo you're making a huge mistake discounting his input. The HRP had absolutely no marble gene, yet 50% of the fry show it? That my friend speaks volumes. A simple recessive gene could not possibly act in this manner.

Thank you, but he doesnt seem to get it. By breeding the calico to and HRP which has no affect on calicos at all and i get 50% calicos should tell you that there are codom marbles and dominate marbles. Maybe i should use those terms for those who lack common sense, calicos/marbles vary so much so.
