i had some that never took in my tank and i put it in with my pacman frog with just damp soil and a little spiral cfl bulb and WHAM the toad cant kill it fast enough!(he tried everything from eating it to sitting on it till it flattens)

HC in my experience is one of those plants that takes time to adjust, and while adjusting will either die back almost completely then re-grow, or just take over in no time...

In my 60G with T8 bulbs, its now finally starting to take hold after months and i'm starting to see a carpet grow, in my 50G with T5-HO, they are growing almost like weeds and in certain areas i have a carpet that is easily 2"-3" thick...

Gotta upgrade that 60g lighting!! You'll notice a worlds difference. I consider you crazy for growing plants with t8s!! Possible but as you've found out, can be a head ache.

I'd try them on my 25, but the substrate sucks and its a 25 tall... Not ideal lighting at the bottom.

But yeah i knew what i was getting into before i started with the HC and i have to say while T8's are far from optimal, it can be done with a crap load of patience and a little luck...

^ No worries...

As for the OP: Im more curious to see how your HC will do in the long run...since my experience with it has always failed without Co2 injection... where it would look good for about a month or two, then die back a little, then not long after pretty much die out completely, or sometimes bounce back a little then wither away...

Not saying it wont work in your setup, but just curious to see what will happen over time...

Well at first everything was dieing went to walmart picked up 2 24in ecolux plant/aquarium bulbs. Everything is starting to come back. There is even green showing on plants that looked completely dead.

Thanks man this is just my mess around 10 gallon emersed. so if it fails no big deal. But im hoping I can get some growth so I have some to put in my 55 gallon

So just dont give up, since you just never know if it will work
