After quite some time of my WC Female Trimac killing every and any tank mate(s) I opted for a new route. I spoke to rapps, and I got some Neets, a pair actually. I removed my Trimac from her tank for about 4 days. I built a driftwood cave/prison (lol) and the Neets didn't use it very much when they had full run of the tank. Another interesting point. My female Neet, had a huge hump on her head to start too. I was actually figured it was the male. After day 4 I moved her back to her tank, It was completely redone, new wood, top level plastic vine and of course 2, 3" or so Male and Female Neets. Day 5, my Trimac established the tank was hers. Don't tread on me lets say. She caught one of the two of the Neets in the open water and blasted them a few times. But as expected, the bad little Neets took what she had and then some. They bonded, they learned their protective wooden home was just that. They pair, protecting each other and growing more adventurous. The would battle my Trimac on occasion from their wooden fortress, actually nipping her fins and occasionally lip locking (that didn't go well for them.) Some shots of their saga.

ONTO THE GOOD STUFF

Last night I stumbled upon this. My Neets must have laid eggs under the wood, and BOOM babies!

I guess my question now is, do I remove the fry, will it hurt their bond? Without food will they just die? Should I feed them to my other fish, or does anyone in NJ want some Neet fry?

Do not remove the eggs....

Remove the Trimac. You do not play around with Neets with babies......

The eggs hatched thats fry in the photos. For now the three are all together. The neets wont go after her in the open tank, only small protective battles near their wood area.

Hope it stays like that. There is no beating Parent Neets......

Well they are impressing me so far. My Female has Killed a Male Carpintis 2" bigger than her, Almost killed a Male Midas, and countless smaller fishes over the years. She is brutal in her attacks, most fish just bully and attack a little. She will try to shread and bite almost anything she can. My algae cleaning magnet, python, hands you name it she thinks she can beat it lol. Like you said, these Neets are doing a awesome job of keeping her on her toes. They get a good nip off here of there, but they don't dare engage an open water battle. More so they harass her if she's hovering over their 1/4 of the tank.

Again,, hope it stays like that when the babies start swimming more freely.

Neets are hell on earth. Unbelievable.

Miguel, you think I could/should scoop some little free swimmers out or does that affect the pair?

I do not think it affevts the pair.

On another note, you know they re vegetarians, yes?
