This is my 6" female Red Texas, I picked her up for $12 at first I thought she was a Kamfa Flowerhorn lol. Here's pictures of when I first got her...





But here she is now, and losing the black patches as she grows...

Well technically if it's a Red Texas it can still be regarded as a Flowerhorn. Just that it's also a Red Texas. Which it seems to be becoming.

I have not seen juvie RTs with the patterning of yours prior to fade. Most resemble a carpintas, where as yours looks like a kamfa fh.
From reading other fh devoted sites years ago, it is my understanding that to be a true srt (rt), the pearling must cover gill plate, crown and mask (whole head) of the fish as well as the body.
Again, this is my understanding based on old information. Perhaps the info has changed since.
