Should I buy it or no?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have always wanted and arrow and I could buy a small one and grow it out but I find it to be a gamble. What do u do if u cant get rid of him and cant upgrade then it goes back to the store that couldnt house the smaller one

Yeah it sucks that people assume there is this endless supply of keepers with large tanks that they can dump their growouts on. I've been offered(and turned away) three differnt silver aros and a couple of pacu by people who could no longer house the fish. Worst thing is when a LFS a actually sells a pacu, arowana or RTC then they just bring in more only adding to the problem. IMO it is irreasponsable to buy and growout a fish, that 99% of the hobbyist can't properly house, if you don't plan on caring for it when it becomes too much of a hassle or you can't afford to keep it.

+1!! Finally something we can agree on!

I think everyone is getting the wrong idea here. You can say what ya want but I wouldn't purchase an aro without a plan. I have plans of getting a 240 in the near future. Money is saved just waiting on the space. My friend who already has 3 aros in a 500 said he would take it if needed. If I didn't buy this fish it would have more than likely died from lack of care from the pet shop. They are known for it. The last time I was there they had grade A fh that both died after the tanks weren't cleaned for over 4 weeks. I did this aro a favor no matter what anyone thinks. Aros go quick in my area and I plan on selling this guy cheap compared to the lfs here

Yet, now that they know they can sell them, they are just going to bring in more. Why would anyone finacially support such a horrible place anyways? As it is too bad for the fish that are there, keeping them in business only leads to much more suffering by many more fish in the future.

In that aspect I agree with u. Although fish make up a small part of their sales. I was suprised to see it cuz when my friends were let go they started keeping tropical fish only. It was the first time I had been there in a long time and was the first fish bought from them in well over a year I think. Most of the fish I purchase from then are special order and I get them before they are put into their tanks. But not anymore since my friends are gone. I don't support them but felt I had to buy the fish. Might have been a good or bad choice depending on who reads this but my wife wanted to get it so that's what it is.

Don't worry dude, not all of us got the wrong idea. Sounded like you had a plan from the first page. Passing character judgement based on a little bit of forum thread info is pretty silly anyway.

Look forward to seeing the little guy.
