Ehime 2080 pro3 quastion?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm going to add one more filter. This seems to be the FX5 or the 2260.
But regardless to add more filters. Whether the 2080 can theoretically hold such aquarium alone?
If you had to choose only one filter to put on 135 gallons tank, what would you choose? (Fx5, 2080, 2260/2 or something else)

Hi,
The Ehime 2080 can hold 600-liter aquarium alone?
Biologically, I know he can.
Mechanical, I don't know.
I want my water clear as Crystal.
What do you say?
Thanks.

This shouldve been asked before purchasing the filter. Run the filter, see how it does. If needed add another filter, better to have multiple filters anyhow.

If money is no object, 2262. If it is, then fx5 if the stipulation is one filter. When I had my 135, I just did it with two big HOBs. I then added a smaller canister very much later.

I believe 2080 can handle a fully stocked 135 biologically. You may want to add a power head at the other end of the tank for water movement.

I dont believe the 2250 is in production anymore. At least I havent seen it available in North America for a long time. The 2078 I have no experience with but I would suggest sticking with the first generation Eheims. They are proven and have very simple but effective designs where the Pro2 and the newer Pro3 line seem to be lacking a bit. IMO.

I would add a 2262 or an FX5.

I have 2x Eheim 2180, it was on a 6x2x2 (keeping arowana, clown laoches, flagtail and plecs) and gave me crystal clear water, now on my 4x2x2 (keeping small peacock bass, flagtail, clown loaches and plecs) and water quality is amazing. These Eheim filters are really good in terms of the amount of filter media you can out in, only drawback i find on these are if you clean the filter it takes a while to start again. Whilst I also have 3x fx5 these dont hold as much filter media but its such a simple filter to use, clean the filter and turn power on thats all. Personally i think i would prefer the fx5.

Blue moon, what is your stock and what is your wc schedule and water parameters?

If ammonia and nitrite are zero, then additional filters won't help you biologically. If you need a mechanical filter to help with the floaters, I suggest one or two HOBs with sponges and water polishing pads. Way easier to clean.

0 Ammonia , 0 Nitrite.
I need one more filter for mechanical job.
The FX5 is great but his pipes are thick, and the aquarium is too close to the wall. (I'm still looking for a solution).
I was told that the Atman CF-3400 is also good filter, has anyone experience with this filter?

I have a 2080 on my 75G and I find it to not be very good mechanically. If you can I would return the 2080 and pick up the 2262.
