Hi guys, i just want to know your opinion if this endli which i bought from the lfs last month has a defect on its back fin (near the tail , not the tail) . It seems folded or twisted and doesn't open up well like the fin on the other side of its body. If its a defect, can it correct by itself when it grows big. It is about 6 inches right now and feeding occasionally on superworms.

here's the pic :
the fin on the center of the pic - defect ?

is this just normal or a defect ??

It's kind of hard to tell from the pic, but a twisted fin is not normal.
Also, you'll get more responses if you post this in the Polypterus section.

Regrettably it may stay like that its whole life. I have an ornate with a link in its back since I had him and it hasn't fixed itself at all.
Ill show you a pic later on

ah ok tks for the input, dutch nut ... i was hoping the fin fixes itself when it grows bigger ... apparently from your experience it is going to stay that way forever ... maybe some fin stretching exercises everyday can help ... lol ....

I guess in the next few days/months i will also get used to seeing the twisted fin on my endli ...

I also saw the kink in your ornate's back .. how big is the ornate now ? are those a pair that you have - a male and femals ? you have a nice looking colorful birchir even with the kink in the back . nice bright shot on the iphone . thanks for sharing :)

Well it's just think, it might not be a sure thing. Maybe the fin will fix itself.
And for my ornate bichir he's about 10-11 inches now and I don't have a mating pair regrettably. I actually have 4 ornates. Each one has a different look to them.ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1361560356.154879.jpg
