Yea raising up all the fry for that long is a TON of work and patience. I'm only at the 2 month mark and there's times I want to sell them all and times I want to keep them to see if I get anything cool.

Gutted you couldn't be more correct thankfully me Crush had plan to split them up. You got friends into great fish keeping might not hurt to dump few off with them. It's extremely hard to cull hybrids because every last one could become a beautiful hybrid. Now that Crush and I have raised few hybrids that statement goes so many ways. I've watch the ugly's become amazing. Spots before the fade to not damn one after. no pearls then fade and be covered in them or just never fade at all. Its like a roll of the dice man you just gotta keep pushing threw it. Good luck and keep us posted.

Do you have any before and after pics of them? What percentage of them have faded?

We do have pics here and there but no photo album. Our youtube videos are what we reflect on. As far as fading percentages... About 15% faded, and about 5% of the faded had pearls. This was just 1 spawn with 1 pair though. We have another bp paired with another tex and the juvies look totally different. So its back to the basics on what we have "learned" and it really depends on the pair on what they are going to throw.

Dirty I didn't hit reply button on last post. You WILL get something cool and unique regardless. At first I was all about creating a rt, but its better to look at a parrot/texas project as just a parrot/texas project and just hope you get a fertile rt in the process. Although I actually had 1 rt out of this spawn(it got killed early because if lack of space), I actually like the looks of most of the hybrids created to where an actual "red texas" is a MAJOR bonus! Man I didn't know you liked the last hybrid I posted.... His name was Bigness and he was a sterile ASS HOLE. We will keep you in mind if we get tired of anymore that we grow out.

Dirty was meant to read sorry... Damn auto text. Lol

I've seen most of yours and mbeezy's videos on youtube. I'm a sub! I watch yall videos when I'm trying to compare growth rates and what to expect in the future.

Its funny that you say that because lately my new interest are those type of big body hybrids that come from a texas x bp cross. The ones that look real heavy on the vieja or amphilophus side, like how Bigness and Big meat look. Theres a few members on here who posted up and pics and they look real nice. The only thing I dont like, is that seem to take a LONG time for them to get their color.

Well its a small world lol. Thanks foor subbing, I had no clue you were a sub. Let me get your name so I/we can sub back(If we aren't subs already). Man this latest batch that we have that is getting grown out by my brother has some real monsters! They will be 4 months old on march 7th, but they have the worst case of crazy that I have ever experienced! The bigger juvies are eating the smaller ones whole! The growout process isn't as easy as it seems when dealing with these hybrids. He works a lot so he kinda cut back on feeding. Well the big guys still eat good! Lol well you notice the time and patience it takes to raise these fish... I know you know that anything that brings great reward takes time and patience lol! Now I have seen your signatuure say the same thing for a long time... Surely you found you some marbled convicts by now? If not, since you stay tuned you should know we both have spawning pairs of them. Convicts were my first cichlid to spawn with so when I seen the marbled look I had to get them. We will have plenty of them to sell in a few months. So just let us know.

I don't post anything on YouTube I'm just a window shopper. Lol. That's crazy that your bigger juvies are the eating the smaller ones! Its really survival of the fittest. Yea taking care of my 100ish (just a guess) is such a chore. I'm always siphoning out their poop. Once at night and once in the morning. I have to do a 90% WC every other day or so to keep it clean. I bought some pothos plants to help me out with the water quality so well see how much it helps. If it does its job I may end up stuffing their tank with all pothos!

True about time and patience. I just wish I had more tanks and space to do more projects until these fry growout. That's probably the reason why I'm impatient with them. Lol. I can't breed anything else right now.

I did find a couple of calico cons but I'm always looking for some that are heavily marbled. Maybe its me but do your calico's seem to grow slower than regular or pink ones?

Definitely keep me in mind if you want to get rid of some fry later down the road. Maybe we can trade fry too.
