Lmfao!!! i just bought 5 today b/c they were fat and healthy. I dont usually buy cichlas this small but they just look so different from the many i've seen. I asked the guy working there what kind these were and he said that they were ocellaris. But we shall see :)

Lol yea that was probably me. Asian guy right? If not, then that was someone else. And i wouldnt celebrate too early. Temensis are dark and speckled. Yours showing signs yet? It's almost impossible to tell at when theyre less than 3in. Except that temensis fry are longer and more "streamline" around the head.

Did yours have ich? Mines have a little here and there. Had the heater turned up to approx 86F. Currently fed on diet of bloodworms and swordtail frys. Fierce little munchkins they are.

Haha r u hmong? Lol i got mine on the day they came in so luckily i had no trouble with ich, but yeah in the last week alone they have grown about an inch, the spangles running along their horizontal bars are starting to come in so im pretty confident they are tems but then again only time can tell. These guys were by far the easiest bass that i have ever pellet trained though.

Yes i am. Are you?
They dont seem to like cichlid pellets much. What kind of pellets are you feeding them?

Peb yog Hmoob :) Anyways it's actually not impossible to distinguish cichla as fry if you've been around cichla for quite some time. Atleast in some species that is. In time you will be learn what to look for when Iding. When we first saw these at Whitie's, ilikebichirs and I were baffled. We knew they were different right off the bat and immediately saw that their horizontal bar was very prominent and they only showed bars when they were stressed. Their head shape and body shape were very stream lined. Baby temensis won't have spangles all over till they get bigger I'd say around 4-5 inches. The "tems" we have are already on pellets and growing fast as hell which is expected for temensis.

Yog lawm!
What kind of pellets are you feeding them? Any tips on how to condition them? Mines just spit em out after striking them.
