no where in this thread is there " OMG BIGGER TANK" most responses said its fine for now but ideally would be bigger..calm down :P
I am Calm, I just want the OP to not be frightened off because majority of the people here (cichlid subforum is the worst for this and also where he will inevitably end up) will tend to list recommended size as MINIMUM. a well cared for oscar in a 3' tank would be a happy fish, sure he would be better with more space but he would be far better off than a lot of the idiots who keep them in 20g and wonder why they die

This tank is 65 gallons, why wait and just get a tank that's 10 more gallons and you'll be set?

Oscars grow fast and that 3' length is going to get rather small rather fast.

How about you consider something other than a oscar.

For a short tank like that I would go with salvini, HRP, dwarf pikes, bellycrawler pike, jack dempsey, a single grammodes cichlid, or a community of firemouths, with some convicts, and a pike or 2

im keeping the tank with minimal decorations, one piece of driftwood actually.. so hes got the most room possible.

oscars should be in a tank no less then 75 gallon.. with one other tankmate ( whether that being a pleco or a small cichlid under 6 inches like a convict or firemouth.. )
