Having little experience on hybrids i was wondering a couple of things that i havent seen mentioned somewhere..

1)I will make a short introduction by saying that 99% of hybrids that include parrot (lets say Super Red Texas f.e.) are from a Female Parrot x Male Texas, and thats because of the infertility thing going on with the male parrots. Now lets assume i want to make a hybrid Convict x Texas..Thats crossing a small with a big cichlid.
Is there any difference in the offspring depending whether i choose a male or female Texas/Convict etc or is this irrelevant??i doubt there will be a difference on the colours but what about the final size of the fish?

2)Does anyone know possible hybridizations of a polleni cichlid?

1.) There will be differences for sex-linked traits. Many of the visible traits - such as bars on the Convict or pearlings (size, shape, pattern, etc.) on a Texas - seems to be autosomal, and therefore it won't matter which species is the father and which species is the mother, in regards to those. But yeah for things on the X or Y chromosome (or whatever the cichlid equivalent is), then it matters.

2.) Yes, with other Paratilapia species.

Thanks for the reply,u got the meaning of what i wanted to ask.But to the first question is there a thing that we should know about the size of the offspring?
In the Texas x convict do we know whether the hybrids will have a bigger final size when the mother or the father is the bigger species??

ps: sorry for my english

No worries, I understand. :D

I believe that size is largely dictated by an autosomal genetic element, and hence the species of the parents don't matter in this case. I believe. Although people don't really list the sizes of their fish, and it's hard to tell if it's the maximum size or not, so well, it's not really a known thing, unfortunately.
