If your gar leaves your ctenopoma alone then a bichir should be fine.

Difference is the ctenopoma attacks the gar if he comes close to it lol they used to swim around together, ever since the far snapped at her, she's been careful and stays on her side lol but as soon as the gar swims by her she snaps at him it's kinda funny, now I don't know if the bichir would even try to defend itself..

I think that with a gar that size especially if you feed live food then that one bad experience should be taken into consideration. I'm not really a gar person (just not interested) but Just cause 1 person had a bad experience doesn't mean it will happen to everyone that owns bichirs and gars.

haha that's one feisty little devil! I don't think bichir will defend itself very well, but it prolly doesn't have to.

Im not speaking from one bad experience ive kept gar for over 10 years...i can say the same about you having one "lucky" experience with ur setup...but whatever i currently house every gar species out there except cuban. They will play nice for a while but one day SNAP!!!!!! :) i have a friend with a large gator gar that attacked him in a pond drawing blood :) floridas are but a smaller version so its common sense. My floridas have attacked clown knives, large cats, birchirs, oscars, tire tracks and other gar. All of which everyone keeps them with. Not impossible but risky. Anything with teeth is capable of having a bad day with tankmates.

You guys have some good points but I think in this situation it might eat it,idk about them being aggressive or predatory each have their own personality but mines might be more aggressive it snaps at me and water is everywhere I'm not saying mines is an angel my ctenopoma is a brave female dog..she has a battle scar lol,I will try see how it goes,if it works out great if not it's an experience either way, like I said every gar Is diff
