Hello again I'm back with another question. I'm considering getting a blue acara and a rainbow cichlid. As of right now they will be the only two cichlids in the tank (55 gallon). I'm wondering if I end up with a male and female will the two will cross breed? The reason I ask is because I don't want this to happen and I've read that some cichlids will crossbreed.

I would like to get 2 males so I wouldn't have to worry about cross breeding but they will be juveniles so may not be able to sex them correctly.

Rainbows have been moved to Archocentrus so the new name is Archocentrus multispinosus. They are Central American cichlids and will not hybridize with blue acaras which are South American.
