Why is my flowerhorn always stressed

Hey guys I've been trying to figure out why this guys stress bars are so dark he eats that's for damn sure but other than that he stays tucked up ina corner

How long have you had him? How big is the tank? Is he the only one in it? Does he swim out more when the lights are off?

Originally there was one in there he stressed till he died so I got 2 more he killed the other one and now it's just him it's a 30gal tank and he's been in there for almost a week now

When the lights go off he just goes in a jar and sits

Give him a background and also wrap it around the left side of the tank

i gave him a blue background at first he didnt seem to like it so i took it off hes more active with it off


im pretty sure its the tv ill wrap the tank up though see how it works thanks

Could be a number of things. Do you treat your tap water with declorinator? Is your heater shorting out? What is the PH range? What are you feeding it? It is possible it's going to fade. I have had many fish fade and when they start they will have stress bars until they turn almost all black then peel. Also for the background, use blue or bright colored background. Avoid clear, white, or black. Same for the gravel. No white, no black. Also how long have you had the fish? If it's still fairly new it could be from people walking by or the tv.
