That should be something that MFK should have a record book for :)

My teacher said that we couldn't "harm" and animals that have bones. I don't exactly have the money for a cartiligous fish experiment...

Very cool, it is nice that you can mix work (school is work) with pleasure!

I don't necessarily like the science stuff we do in school with textbooks, but I do my own science learning at home with fish stuff, wiring, coding, and other computer stuff like website creation. (no longer only google sites, I use hosts with cPanel now) When I do semi-advanced stuff on the computer, some days it feels like I'm learning more valuable stuff my time there than at school, it may be true... I'm not saying that school isn't important, but nowadays I could learn the same computer stuff through the Internet that a 45 year old trying to change their field of work.

This year was the first year where I had some interest in what my project was about for the science fair... In 6th I did something with plants (boring) and in 7th I tested what lettuce my brother's tortoise preferred the most (boring) then this year I decided to do something with fish since it is something I know a good amount about, something I can concentrate on, and write/speak about them intelligently. :)

I guess it was a pleasure when the other 1st place winners and I got recognized in front of the entire school :)

Former high school science teacher here with some ideas for next year to extend your project. Reason for acclimation of fish is not only for temperature. It is also for pH and alkalinity as well. This is because big swings can cause a lot of stress to fish. Next year you can expand your project for these two other variables to see if the float the bag method is still the best with all considered.

Good luck, judges tend to be impressed with projects students are passionate about.

I didn't win anything, but I think it went well and I did a good job :) Since I go to private school, students from the entire school district went, and there were about 150 projects at the regional science fair!

In my project I mentioned that temperature is only 1 of the things you need to acclimate for, next year it may be salinity, pH, or some other water condition. ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1364063226.420281.jpg
Probably not my best smile... I look weird in that picture :P
