Tank and ray update - loads of photos

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
nice pictures. you been practising with the camera then lol

for some reason everyone seems to be really cagy regarding the settings they use when taking pictures of fish.

i like the shot of the gar with its mouth open and the one of the ray eating from your hand. very nice and lovely rays too.
Many thanks. Yes i have a Canon EOS and love using it on the tank, must have thoussands of photos and always trying to get that speacial picture. Not sure why people would be cagy about shooting pics for memory and to share on great sites like this one. I find good lighting on the tank and no flash on the camera works best to get the natural colours of the fish.

Those rays are gorgeous, I miss hand feeding, greats shots you got. I have up hand feeding the gar after he drew blood for the 1000th time. Ever have any issues with yours?
Thanks for the comments. I have 2 gars both over 12". Had one for about 4 months and looked every where for another a similar size. Finally tracked one down and the two are inseperable. The first one i had now swims all round the tank with the new one and get along great. One i got the new one the guy who sold it said it only eats pellets. Second day i had it i had a frozen fish ripped out my hand as i was feeding the others. Since then the gar has been a mare every feeding session. It's beak comes out the water looking for food in my fingers and i have been nipped quite a few times. The other gar hand feeds but no where near as fearcely as this one!!

Very nice, everything, just very very nice! Love the very small one eating from your hand :p Are you comfy with having such a small ray with bigger once? Reason im asking is cus i have 2 hystrix rays, and i would love to add them to my other rays, but they are twice the size.
Hi and thanks. I got all 3 rays at the same time and all get along great. The arowana is a good 18" now and every feeds together, just need to be careful that everyone gets their fair share. When i got the rays i was worried about the arrow so i put the 2 smallest rays in a divided section. But they got out with in 2 days so i left them out. Everything been real good.

Good quality Bds and nice stock in general.
A project that's been worth every penny and hour that's gone into it for sure
Love the clarity of the shots especially the last one of the ray showing the ray from the side, top and underside spotting.
