Gulper catfish with school of Exodons? Possible?

Hey Viick, I didn't mean to infer that the phantom tetras behaved anywhere near as awesomely as the exodons. I was just thinking you could try a school of similarly sized "cheap" fish to see how it would work out. A $12 school is a lot easier to lose than a $50 school. Just a thought.

Thanks for the advice though. I've watched just about every gulper video on YouTube by now. I always envisioned trying to raise one in a 40br, but the tank would have to be larger for 2. Think a 75 would cut it?

Thanks for your insight, Greatly appreciate it!
I've kept(Still there) 5x dwarf gourami at about 1-2"..I know the schooling part is possible..but now the only thing stopping me is the possible aggression the exodons would show..

I kinda did too lol those Youtube videos just made me want to buy it more lool..But I really havent got bored of them..If im watching them they start doing stunts or bite me through the tank lool..
When I first got these was in a 60g for 4(were about 4"), but they were fairly small then..Now I have 100g with 2 pcs of Driftwood with 4 gulpers(8-10")..from what i've seen a long footprint(They sit on there bellies) would work much better then a tall footprint..if that makes any sense..

still learning though haha what made me do it was, There is very little information on this species..and why not help with awareness to maintaing this cool fish but yet these are priced like stoopid lol

And you should be concerned about how expensive is to replace an exodon every time they got eaten by a gulper catfish. Personally I would focus on something smaller, peaceful and cheap schooling fish instead of large, aggressive fish that act like piranhas. I do not see this combo works in long run.

Thanks for your response!,
What other fish would you suggest? As the fish in it is aggressive already so adding a peaceful fish is going to be stressed no? and eaten much faster then a similar type attitude fish. Im no expert, Which is why I asking? So thanks again!

So what kind of schooling fish can I add to get the feeding frenzy kinda ball or even better they stick together like all going one way and if one turns all will turn as well? Lol

Not much besides exodons do that. Im not to sure what fish but I still really would advise you get something quite abit bigger than the gulpers. Most things are on the menue with them

I would say much bigger than the gulpers...prehaps 2-3 times bigger than the gulpers.

If your goal is watching a feeding frenzy, then set up a different tank for the exodons.

A few exodons won't give you the feeding frenzy like the YouTube vids of 100 exos. I'd try a mid to top water fish like danios or something which seem much more alert and quicker than tetras.
