I.

Just do like many vets do; expect this will not be the first and only batch. They might be monthly breeders, keep the best single fish or two each time and begin growing them out for some show stopping devils. Eventually odds and genetics adds up and you end up a specimen fish. Thats my take. You might end up with a devil which puts the two parents to shame, despite the place they hold in your heart haha.

If I'm buying a fish as "F1" it better have two wild parents. Saying F1 + wild = F1 is the same as F1000 + wild = F1. I'm really hoping Jeff isn't selling the offspring of a wild fish and a first generation fish as F1.

The inability to show lineages with different generations to a wild ancestor is a big downfall of the bastardized usage of the Filial Generations we use in the hobby.

Really True, because if you think, then your "F2" can now possibly to be bred with an "F1" or even wild, and we still aren't back at "F1" even. You're likely already at F3. =(

Moreso once you lose lineage, what you even think you have as your f1 male from lago. could be a f2, an then your whole theory is fubar.

F # is not important. What's important is that I know it's a pure blooded fish. Then it comes down to having a nice pure blooded fish.

You will be lucky to be able to give them all away if you grow out a batch. Amphilophus of any type are in very low demand. Plus they spawn constantly and have rather large spawns. You might be able to sell a couple but then you will end up with thousands left over that no one will even take for free. Especially if you cannot ship them. As mentioned above oyur pair would be producing f2 fry.
