Ok so the tank is going to be 500g to start with and I have the space to build a 2000+ gallon in the future so for most fish size isn't really an issue as long as its not an alligator gar lol

Current planned stock is,

GATF
Arowana (probably pearl)
2x P.bass
Tigrinus catfish
A giraffe catfish
A veil tail common pleco
Clown knife

The set up will be very well filtered, very well oxygenated and have a lot of flow/current, I keep my temp around 80

Any ideas?

Do you have any large tank yet? We can't give you advice based on what its going to be, we can only give you advice based on what you have.

Its going to be well filtered, how will you filter it?

Its going to have a lot of flow, how are you going to do it?

How are you going to maintain the temperature at 80?

How are you going to care for the fish while they're growing out?

How are you going to keep the jardini from killing his tankmates?

There's a LOT of questions you need to answer for us before we answer yours. You've already been caught in a lie with your "cousin" hacking your account (900 gallons, anyone?) and posting a bunch of questions identical in nature, syntax, content and tone to the ones you posted now, so you need to work very hard and be very careful what you say in order to reestablish your credibility.

EDIT: Nevermind the fact that you still haven't even provided proof that you even own a tank. With where you are in your interactions with this forum right now, I don't think asking for proof of basic knowledge of the hobby in the form of pictures of your current setup is too much for us to ask.

I think you have the wrong person...
No one has ever hacked my account and I have never claimed to have a 900g.

and what's with the attitude? If you don't think the jars a good fit then just tell me, I'm not planning on buying anything yet I'm just researching and asking for opinions.

Now for your questions-

It's going to be filtered by a large sump, not sure how big yet because its not built, but its going to be as big as I can comfortably fit under the stand.

The flow is going to be created by various power heads and I will try and plan it so that there are some slightly slack spots for the fish to rest.

A few 300w heaters probably, idk I'm open to suggestions, like I said I am 'RESEARCHING'

I have a spare 100g if they are to small to go strait into the big tank, but I am planning to get them in stages determined on growth rates.

And ok you obviously think the jar is a bad idea (I have been told that in a big tank they are not as aggressive?) then any other suggestions?

Ah, I beg your forgiveness. I really need to lay off of the midnight postings. You are correct, I was mistaken in my associating you with another member. For this I offer my sincerest apologies; my inattentiveness has provided me a very conspicuous breakfast of foot.

Again, my sincerest apologies.

You clearly have done your research and know what you're getting yourself into; if you were familiar with the recent rash of threads very similar to this one you would understand my tone; this appeared to be the fifth or sixth identical thread to pop up.

The only issue I would have with your selection of a jar; I, personally, don't trust them in a community setting. If you wanted an Australian arowana, I would suggest Scleropages leichardti as they are much more sociable than a jardini, they are comparable in temperament to a silver.

This is indeed a case of mistaken identity. I am quite sorry for this.

Don't sweat it :D I was just shocked because you are normally 1 of the best with honest and fair advice, and yea I know the threads you are on about, dw I understand your frustration lol, thanks for the advice on the aro, never heard of it so I will definitely look that 1 up.

I appreciate the positive and receptive manner with which you received my apology. I feel terrible for the mistake.

Leis are very nice fish and there's been a few of them available lately. They look very similar to the jar, they have the same almost Asian look without the price.

Honestly don't worry about it :) the Lei's look really nice, I like it as much if not more than the jars, thanks for the suggestion I will definitely look into getting 1 of them after a bit more research.

Asked in my lfs today and they said the only lei aro's that have been on there list this year have been £300,
I have been thinking of getting a banjar red asian aro, would this be a good fit?

Since I'm stateside, I can't really speak to the temperament of a red aro. Haven't researched them very much because I can't own one! lol.

You might be better served to start a specific "Would a Banjar Red Aro work with my planned stock?" thread over in the Arowana Forum.
