New 5-10 gallon tank

So today i was bored and decided to set this tank up as a quick little project. Its either a 5 or 10 gallon aquarium. Im going to get an ac filter for it and i already have a heater. I was wondering what fish should i put in their. I was thinking of some shell dwellers but im not sure if this tank is big enough. im open to other suggestions also. Here's a pic of the tank...im going to clean it before i do anything else

Thanks. It's a 5 gallon. For a filter im thinking of doing a small power with a sponge on it for right now. How many shellers could live comfortably live in that tank?
