the way my filtretion works is the hose pumps the water to the bottom and throgh a spray bar onto some sponges and biobalss and the through allot of gravel and some sponges here and there and finnlally a net bunched up to make a giant bio ball like 14inches round its here a above pic i dont really want to pull it apart

cool man i like it, simple and efective :thumbsup: although you might want to spend a few more bucks and get some ceramic media just to be safe, anyways seems like your ready to go
 
ok there ative carbon in there and some anti nitrite media just stuff i had lieing around but i will invest in a couple of kilos or cermic rings

there also aa oscsr in the tank but not now hes sick and in a qurentine tank slowly gettin better hopefully soon :)

I wish I could put something like that in my yard. If i did, i never would have had to get rid of my barra... awesome setup, mate. Can't wait to see it fully stocked. Personally, I think you should forget about adding the oscar. One cichlid living with a bunch of iconic natives will stick out like a sore thumb. Plus, the barra might just eat him when he grows (believe me they grow fast)... just my $0.02
