Thankfully you aren't an egghead!! Would this be an asian arowana or a silver?

What species of arowana? Your footprint length is a little short for silver aro, but you do have good width/depth. Height of your tank is excellent for a community. Also need to be aware that housing multiple arowana can be tricky as they don't all just get along. It may take multiple individuals to find the right mix, so it's good if you are able to house them separatly in case things go bad.

is there a species you would say may work well.? btw. your tank is amazing. one of my favourite tanks ive seen

I am going to disagree with what the rest of people are saying, ya bigger might always be better but really show me one or two of the people who have commented that have a tank that size or larger for what they call the best size. Seriously you have a tank that will work very well with Arows. I do not see why you could not keep a couple of them without any issues at all.

thanks mate. ive seen similar but honestly I don't just want them to be ok in the tank. I want them to have a perfect life with no problems to do with space anyway.

Ok well if you break t down into types.. Then it might be easier for you. If it's silvers you want, no matter what, you are rolling a dice with drop eye. There is no absolute fact that your fish will get drop eye but it's highly likely since they are inbred like crazy so getting more than one is ok. No more than 2 though. For Asian arowanas and all other short body arowana like jardini and greens then only one due to aggression problems. If you are getting a black Or blue, the you can house 2 at most, one at best since they have a lower rate of getting drop eye than silvers. Btw short
bodies rarely get drop eye, if you do then your doing something wrong. Silvers and blacks are relatively docile compared to short bodies so they are easier to train. As long as they are well fed then they shouldn't fight.

thats extremely helpful mate. do you the kinda money involved to get young versions of the above fish. just a rough price?

Seeing how you live in London, your tank would be perfect for a community of asian aros, I would get at least 3. IME, 3 or more has been the lucky number with silver/or black arowanas to spread the aggression. Same has been true with keeping peacock bass, 3+ and dithers.

I agree..... My tank footprint is 8'x3x3. I started with 100x small 3" silver arowana. I downsized to 50x 6 month later, than 7. And now I only have 4x silver arowana and my tank still seem a bit crowed but it look perfect :)

IMO, a big tank like that but only have one fish is a waste. If you search forums and youtube. Not everyone housed their arowana in a 300gallon+ tank anyway. Most people on here complain about tank being too small, I can guarantee you, their tank is over stock and poorly maintained. The only thing thats matter is what you want and filteration, filteration, filteration.
