How many Arowanas in a 7'3'3' tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
In my limited experience 3 30" fish would do great in a 7x3 footprint.

There are more experienced members on here than me though.. Especially when it comes to Aros.

hmm. fair enough. Thank you for being honest

If it were my tank, I'd go for one high quality asian arowana. As someone else mentioned, the cost of food, electricity, maintenance etc etc is going to be pretty much the same regardless of if you get a $20 silver or a $2k asian, it is only the initial cost of the fish that differs, and IMO if you're going to spend thousands running a big tank to house a fish of that size, then spend a few bucks more to start with and make sure you're going to get a fish that will be nice to look at over the next ten years.

Asian aro + some mid-swimmers like silver dollars, big barbs, cichlids etc, and some bottom dwellers like plecs, bichirs, rays or loaches and you'll have a very enjoyable tank.

+1 This is what I'm planning for my 450, just need to decide on the bottom dwellers.

I don't know much about rays yet, and I want to be sure I have a compatible mix. I love plecs and am thinking an L24 or two would be nice; and some loaches. Would like to have some type of catfish but have to think about them eating the loaches - so an RTC or TSN would be out. Hmmm

yh for sure. imo, the rtc or tsn would be out for the placs too
