Tarantula beginner - what should I get?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I actually got mine as a tiny baby. So small it was eating fruit flies so its hard to say at the size yours is at when itll make one but id say if it starts eating well it wont be long. Mine basically makes a web, molts, then takes it apart. Def. doesnt put on as much size as my curly hair with each molt though..

Sorry, but one more question. What temp do you keep yours at? Caresheets I read said to keep them in the mid to upper 70s, but I also read a general tidbit about tarantulas that said they can be fine at slightly lower temps as compared to their natural habitat. The bulb I an using right now is just keeping the tank at 70, but I have some good humidity going.

Oh its fine. I like to help if i can =). Theres alot of dif info out there but Ive never done anything special as far as messing with the temps. Mine are on a shelf above my desk and the temps generally hover around the mid 70s which so far (a year and a half) has worked out fine without any issues.

Cool. Thanks. Here is his home:

Congrats on getting your first. They may be kinda boring sometimes, but I'm sure you'll want more soon. I have Zilla screen top locks that I've been trying to sell with a 10G I have. If you want them, they're yours, just come and pick them up.

It's all good if it doesn't move around much. I love the way they look, and the feeding vids I've watched are awesome. Not sure if the locks will work on my weird setup, but I should come by and check them out anyways. It's been a while since I've been at your house. I'll have to search your threads......not sure if you have any pics or videos of your pink toe.

Yeah, you should come by and check out my pinktoe and the fish. I think I have a thread on here somewhere...

After her being in the tank for four days, I tried to feed her a superworm with tongs. That was a no go. I asked the wife to buy three large crickets, but she took the poopsmart guys advice instead of listening to me and brought home three tiny crickets. Not sure if she will find them in the 28 gallon.
