Awww man that 3rd pic!! I thought that last fish was an amph too - either barred midas or red head isletas...

I don't see any Mayan cichlids (exCichlasoma urophthalmus). I see an Amphilophus species, probably citrinellus. Where are people getting Mayan?

What's with the hands in the gills of the dovii? Definitely not good for catch and release.

The hands are not in the gills. They are grabbing the gill plates. I've released quite a few fish in my day; I know how to do it right. The fish were released fine. Don't throw stuff out there unless you know what you are talking about.
 
nice looking blackbelts....i like the one you are holding(4th pic), as it appears to have a bit of a nuchal hump on him. looks like a successful fishing trip.
