no not a waste of time at all! i think its really cool what your doing, giving this little guy a chance to grow and get better! :thumbsup:
i once had the chance to get a small midas what was gettin its butt kicked but sadly i didnt have the room for him :/ he ended up dying but it dose make you wonder, what that fish would of looked like at its full potential, haha anyways great jod on your new pick up ill be keeping an eye on this thread to see its growth

Keep him by himself and warm. If you can find this stuff called "Fishkeeper" (freshwater type obviously) it works wonders. It's worked miracles in my experience. Had a convict beat the crap out of a large pleco and it's eye was nearly hanging out and his fins were tore up. Totally healed. I had an angelfish lose all of his fins and some open wounds from a severum come back using that stuff. Said angel is nearly 10" tall now and thriving in an angel community as the big don. Recently it worked wonders on my severum with ich and a secondary bacterial infection(used maracyn2 at the end of the fk treatment to help also though). I would use some fw aquarium salt (unless jds don't take well to salt, I don't know) in combination.

I'm glad you took the little guy in. I would do the same. Keep us posted on what you do and what happens with the booger.

i've got some small jaguar cichlids approx 2" and one of them had the tail completely missing and it's almost fully grown back in and has only taken 2 weeks.
 
Haha I know! I was like no one will pay 35 for that. If it was in perfect condition then yes because they are really scarce in my area and ordering offline is too much with shipping. Thanks I'll post another pic in a couple days and see if it improves
