duane, do you have multiple heckelii males coexisting, and does it work because of all the tangly driftwood/habitat in there?
I was told that males probably wouldn't work together.

in 180G I have a group of tapajos redheads, 1m & 1f heckelii, 1 black ghost knife, black skirt & lemon tetras, 2 gold severum right now- not totally settled on sev types.

I have heard that too, but I have 2 males and 2 females together without a problem so far.
Beside the logs and cover, there is constant bickering activity in the tank from the 5 Guianacara, and the T asfraci that I believe distracts the heckelli from each other. There is also a fairly heavy current pushing across the open areas of the tank, maybe 800 to 1000gph.

interesting. I'm sure you are right about their tank mate distractions. I always learn something from your tanks :-)
my male is quite the observer in community, a gentle giant. when disruptions arise he picks someplace where he can just watch everything. when it's over, he's back on stage.

Have my Firemouth in with 2 Rainbow Cichlids, Ropefish, a bichir and several community-type fish. :)

I have a 500 gallon tank....I have a breeding pair green terror , 3 peacock bass , 2 red texas and 2 cichlasoma urophthalmus.

Currently spread out between a 90, and a couple 125's right now for grow out. Got 2 to 3 of each trying to get a male of each to put into my 350 community. All are about 2 to 3" now.

Green Terror -Gold Saums
Vieja maculicauda - Blackblet
Vieja Argentea - Silver Cichlid
Vieja hartwegi - Tailbar Cichlid
Vieja zonatus -
Vieja synspilus- redhead
Parachromis Motaguensis- RTM
Parachromis Managuense - Jag
Amphilophus Labiatus -Red Devil
Amphilophus Festae - Red Terror

Also looking to add a Crenicichla lenticulata.

I'm hoping the majority will work well in the 350g. I do plan to spread out some of these fish and keep a female to pair up. I've got a 90g, 2 x 125g, and a 180g besides having the 350g.

Maybe do a tank with just a butti.
