Here's my 6" female Red Texas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah mine has gold colored eyes, and to Crush329; As juveniles Red Texas can have flower lines going from head to tail, however as they start maturing they lose the flower line as they "peel". Here's another example of a Red Texas with the full flower line....

Another very nice specimen! This guy also doesn't have the flower spot behind the eye so I wonder if they think the same? Is it full grown? I know not all lose their flowerline. Earlier I wasn't referring to the flower line that is visible in juvinile red devils, midas, or bp's. I was referring to the extra flower spot behind the eye that flowerhorns have. That's the main difference that I look for when i'm able to see a juvenile red texas with flowerhorn traits. Im not trying derail the thread, I just wanted to know why they considered it a flowerhorn fader?

because they don't know.

You seem to know by mentioning the flower spot at the head.. U are absolutely right. No other traits other than the fading and the pearls of the Texas.. The Flower at the head is originally from the Trimac passed onto the FHs. If a Red texas have that, then it sure isnt a RT anymore

Thanks animal guy. I was going in to a little more detail for everyone to get a little better understanding of the fish. Them trimacs have some strong genes and there was no trimac trade "mark" on its head.

This is my 6" female Red Texas, I picked her up for $12 at first I thought she was a Kamfa Flowerhorn lol. Here's pictures of when I first got her...

I just don't see it guys. How about the red eyes that turned to a gold eyes? If its born with red eyes, it has red eyes...I know with some Red Devils I've owned in the past, in the morning when you turned the lights on In the dark, the eyes would be white and then turn red.
