Is my filtration OK for large cichlids?

Seen plenty of 12-15" Oscar most of witch are kept in a 75 or bigger.

If the Oscar is the only fish (as the OP said) then I think a 75 with proper filtration and water changes is fine. One can argue that it might not fully grow to an optimal length as in a public aquarium or the wild, but it can easily get to 80-85% of that length.
The same Oscar as a solo pet in a 500 gallon, might grow 1-2" longer. Health wise, I don't think there would be a difference.

I was told a 90 was good for an oscar, so I bought a 90 and an oscar. 2 years later I had a 16" fish in an 18" wide tank.
I wouldn't put an oscar in anything less than 24" wide.
Considering that most oscars live their full life in a 55 or smaller and still reach large size, one would think an 18" wide tank would be sufficient. I also hear so many people talk about the huge oscars but never have measurable pics to back them up. Not calling anyone a liar but, I can say I have something on the extreme side or bigger and without pics, well we know how that's gone over before. Think sixty foot shark pond.

Everyone has there own opinions. But realistically a 75 or even a 90 is grossly small for an adult oscar.
I have a friend with 2 12" oscars in a 140 and they looked crammed.
I dont see why people get *****ed at for housing a 2ft fish in a 6x2x2. But those same people say a 75-90 is ok for a 12"+ fish. Other then biological factors. Its the same damn thing.

ok, you caught me. I'm trying to stop people from keeping oscars because I want to be the only one keeping them. then I'll finally be able to say I've got a rare fish.
