Insane to keep I know....but I'm sure someone has one. Saw some old threads from 2008 about them being sold for 3k for a single specimen. There was also someone on water wolves that supposedly had a pair in 2003. If these are available now that's amazing.

Nice to know there somewhere out there in the hobby! Thanks for not flaming me guys hah...im not gonna lie id love to put one in my 3k but know its very very unlikely to ever happen. Ive had up to a dozen motoros before, even a 20-24" female..i think ill have to join the ray party again when my 3k is up and see if i can grow some killers. The patterning and coloration on the p. Brachyura is simply stunning. Anything similiar sized and color on a more available/affordable scale out there?

Oliver lucanus never supplied any ever. He put them on his list but never was able to deliver them .

This is a ray that gets 1000lbs why would you want one? I believe they are a protected species now.but I'm sure somebody will add one in their 500 gallon with their arapaimas

The smallest tank id put one in is a 3,000 (which i have 80percent complete) and i think thats alot better than most people. But agreed its pretty crazy i know. On the other hand is it any worse than 90percent of our community including myself keeping species like wells cats, alligator gar etc. I know that i can and will do anything to provide for my specimen, but agreed most people do not. Just curious whats out there, im more than happy with a ray that will attain the 3' disc mark like a motoro.

Y do any of us want fish that can eat/kill people lol? There are several on the list that we all keep on a pretty normal basis around here.

If you want a really cool larger ray try a paratrygon . They don't get nearly as big And are nicer looking cleaner eaters ect...
3000 gallons is a nice size tank a barychura would do ok in it for years but would you be able to feed it later on?The biolaod would be insane from that one fish alone . It would cost alot of money to feed and you'd need a massive filter and freshwater supply. Even with a 3000 gallon I don't believe it's feasible long term .

Tiger rays /flower rays get around the size your looking . Some paratrygon get about the same size as barychura just not nearly as fat maybe fifety pounds rather than hundreds of pounds and once established they are lowest maintanence rays . I spend about 1 minute a week on mine feeding!
