That's what Warmouth wants you thinking that the snakeheads are bad, but I'm waiting for him to post the studies of largemouth bass and other non-native predatory fishes and its effects in Potomac River. The Potomac River is so badly altered before the snakeheads arrived and many rare species were already in danger by the introduced gamefish species. Not mentioned that you also have carps (grass/common) which can easily change the whole ecosystem and even pose a threat to the spawning areas of the rare native species. There are too many factors that leads to other thing. There are no way that snakeheads is the sole factor who is responsible for being "harmful" to the ecosystems where many factors play a role for altering the ecosystem. As for Itsdeepbluesea, I'm sure you know that largemouth bass and catfish do prey on native centrarchids and killifish/topminnow. In fact they are responsible for wipe out rare Western United States centrarchids and also few endemic species in NA. Even non-native centrarchids can causes the native centrarchids and killifish/topminnow changed the locations and also habitats as well as the prey items. As for Warmouth, you are wrong that adult snakeheads are immune to predation. In fact they have find some adult snakeheads in the stomach of large non-native catfishes and you telling me that catfish cannot eat an adult snakehead. Also where is the evidence that snakehead can ripping apart the fish in the wild setting environment v.s captive setting environment? There is strong evidence that largemouth bass and other predators do consume the YOY snakeheads despite of the parents' protection. There is no evidence that snakeheads can spawn three times in a year in the Potomac River setting.
While you guys worrying about harmless snakeheads and northern pikes decimating the sportfish populations, everyone is worrying about the Asian Carp invasion.

Lol, wow Minnesota....sorry if I hurt your feelings; you think Snakeheads and Northern Pikes are harmless and Largemouth bass and Blue catfish are ecosystem crashers , both Northern Pike and LMB were devastating to the Sacramento Bass and other fish when introduced to rivers and lakes out West where they were an invasive. Northern Snakeheads are in my opinion more aggressive and a bigger threat to our native ecosystem than either the LMB or the Northern Pike and definitely more than the Blue catfish.....you keep asking for proof and studies and yet I haven't seen you present any proof or studies to prove that Adult Northern Snakeheads (in Dogues Creek they have found them weighing over 10lbs) have been found in stomachs of Catfish and you have not shown any studies proving that LMB and Blue Catfish had altered the Potomoc so much that Northern Snakeheads wont and cant harm it at all. I try to be a fair guy, so I tell you what..... if youll smear fish guts on yourself and jump into a pool filled with adult Northern Snakeheads that haven't been fed and don't get bit.....Ill believe you, I tell ya what, Ill even believe you their harmless if you can stick your hand in a tank filled with Northern Snakehead and splash it around in the water before theyre fed and don't get bit (disclaimer, I am in no way telling you to do this, and I truelly believe that you shouldn't because I feel that if you do you are risking your life and limbs to this "harmless" fish).
