Getting a Baby Black Arowana..

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah i would like to do that but the problem is my 75g is under of my 112g in our garage where my 2 tanks are place and when were having a band rehersal many people passes and stand by in front of my tanks so im worrying if my baby black place in the 75g it could freak out every time people pass.. Sorry guys.. Its just my first time to take care a black this small unlike the ones i took care of like 6" up..

I put my smaller tanks in the living room, lots of people pass by it every minute. At first my fish were **** scared, then a few weeks later, they got use to it. In my opinion, it's better to get them use to having people around, otherwise when they see people once in a long time, they will go crazy. The 75 gallon sounds good, I would lower the water level though.

Yes, sadly, black arows have a harder time keeping their barbels and trailer fins in perfect condition.

Not from my experience. If they are in clean water just like all aros should be they are fine. Just like any aros they loose them from fighting or another fish. Never have I had any aros barbels or streamers com off from acclimation. I have squirted and dumped them, dripped them, floated them and just popped the bag open an put them in. I have had more issues with plecos or ray acclamations then arowanas. Kinda coming off like a parrot instead of experience.

They are baby aros not as hard as a lot of people make them out to be. They are sensitive, but if your tank is cycled, you have good filtration and you have the foods they are no different then any other fish. I like to start them off in smaller tanks with sponges just like any other fish. It is just easier to monitor them that way. I have had a group of 3" silvers in a 120 Fatboy and they were great. Like Brian said they learn were the food comes from. They even will eat off your fingertips. Even egg sacks are no problem.
